City partners with HUB Cycling for Bike to Shop campaign, promoting sustainability and cycling amenities.

Coquitlam presents an opportunity to shop sustainably this August with HUB Cycling’s 2024 Bike to Shop campaign, from August 1 to 31.

The campaign encourages the exploration of Coquitlam’s cycling infrastructure, taking advantage of the summer weather while supporting local businesses.

On August 11, a Celebration Station will be held at Coquitlam’s Farmer Market. The event promises a free bike valet, with the first 20 cyclists receiving a $5 market voucher.

Participants can obtain cycling maps, snacks, and HUB-branded merchandise, and converse with HUB volunteers for biking advice.

Exploring neighborhoods like Austin Heights can enhance visits, among other vibrant Coquitlam districts.

Coquitlam remains committed to being a cycling-friendly community by aligning its efforts with HUB Cycling events and aiming for 50% micromobility and transit trips by 2050.

The city boasts over 115 kilometers of bike routes and promotes regional cycling maps available online and in local public facilities.

Bike maintenance support includes stations at Poirier Sport Complex and City Centre Aquatic Complex, offering tools for basic bike repairs.

Cyclists will find temporary parking options at TransLink’s facilities, with the CoquitlamConnect app providing route details suited to varying skill levels.

The City’s new Strategic Transportation Plan focuses on enhancing micromobility, embracing awards for infrastructure improvements, and extending e-scooter trials.

Coquitlam continues updating its transportation strategies, incorporating diverse users and new technologies, aligning with environmental and economic plans.
