City to offer financial support to not-for-profits serving Coquitlam residents

The upcoming fall Spirit of Coquitlam Grant application period is set to open soon, offering a vital opportunity for registered not-for-profit organizations to apply for city-backed financial support.

From September 3 to October 1, 2024, organizations may submit their applications for the grant program, which seeks to benefit Coquitlam residents by funding sustainable and impactful projects.

Since 2002, the City of Coquitlam has provided over $9.5 million in grants to 254 community organizations through the Spirit of Coquitlam Grant program. These grants are awarded biannually, during the spring and fall.

Eligible projects must primarily benefit Coquitlam residents, align with the City’s strategic priorities, and demonstrate sustainability beyond the grant period. Applicants must also meet the requirement of good standing with the City.

Grant funding is competitive, with varying amounts awarded based on category and project type. Priority may be given to first-time applicants.

Webinars offering guidance on the grant criteria and application process are scheduled for September 11 and September 17. Registration details will be posted on the grant website.

Potential applicants are encouraged to reach out to the Grant Coordinators for further insights ahead of submission.

Approved grant applications will be announced by December 2024, following review and Council approval. The next application period will open in February 2025.
