City plans comprehensive infrastructure updates ahead of June 2025 housing deadline.
With a new deadline of June 30, 2025, set by the Province, Coquitlam is moving forward with planning to support future small-scale housing development while ensuring essential infrastructure is in place.
As Coquitlam implements provincial housing changes, the City aims to balance new development with sustainable planning and sound financial governance.
The extended deadline allows Coquitlam time to update key bylaws, ensuring housing growth aligns with servicing needs without overloading existing systems.
Coquitlam’s plans include reviewing utility needs, coordinating housing with infrastructure upgrades, conducting servicing and transportation studies, and completing critical projects.
The City will update regulations to support diverse housing options, facilitating streamlined planning processes.
Under provincial changes, most single-family zoned properties can now have up to four units, impacting approximately 25,000 properties in Coquitlam.
