City plans virtual meeting to clarify legislative impacts on local areas and housing

In response to requests for additional information, Coquitlam will host a virtual session on December 3 to discuss the city’s approach to implementing changes in provincial housing legislation.

This session will focus on Transit-Oriented Areas, neighboring shoulder areas, and key corridors in Southwest Coquitlam, with a brief overview of Small-Scale Multi-Unit Housing.

Recent legislative changes affect how Coquitlam manages growth, including limited public hearings, removal of parking minimums, and new development financing rules, potentially impacting community amenities such as parks and affordable housing.

The online event will include a presentation by Planning staff followed by a Q&A segment. Residents can register through LetsTalkCoquitlam.ca/TransitOrientedAreas or a direct Zoom link.

A recording of the presentation will be available post-event on the same webpage.

Coquitlam remains committed to keeping residents informed about the impact of provincial housing mandates.

Residents can access more resources, including FAQs and session recordings, at LetsTalkCoquitlam.ca/ProvincialHousingChanges.
