The City of Coquitlam supports local organizations with Spirit of Coquitlam grants.

The City of Coquitlam has announced the allocation of more than $207,000 to support local non-profit and community organizations. These grants aim to enhance various community initiatives, including concerts, sports programs, and services for seniors.

On Monday, the Coquitlam City Council awarded Spirit of Coquitlam grants to 22 groups, totaling $207,027 in funding. The grants are funded through the Province of BC’s Host Financial Assistance Agreement, benefiting communities with casinos or gaming centers.

These bi-annual grants support events, community programs, equipment purchases, and capital projects that align with the city’s strategic goals and meet eligibility criteria. More information on this season’s recipients is available in the backgrounder.

The next round of grant applications will open on February 3, 2025. Interested parties can find details on the grant and application process at coquitlam.ca/SpiritGrant.

Since its inception in 2002, the Spirit of Coquitlam Grant Program has distributed over $9.8 million to more than 260 organizations. Program details are available on the city’s website.

The city acknowledges the hən̓q̓əmin̓əm̓ origin of the name Coquitlam, meaning “Red Fish Up the River,” and its location on traditional kʷikʷəƛ̓əm lands, shared historically with the q̓ic̓əy̓ and other Coast Salish Peoples.
