The City of Coquitlam held its regular council meeting on Monday night at City Hall with Mayor Richard Stewart and the full council present.
The meeting began with an acknowledgment of Indigenous territorial lands by the mayor.
Minutes from the previous council meeting on February 10 were unanimously approved.
First on the agenda was a development application by Zako Development Inc. at 817 Edgar Avenue, focusing on childcare spaces and the preservation of mature trees.
The council approved the first three readings of the zoning amendment and authorized staff to prepare the necessary development permit, despite opposition from Councillor Marsden.
A second development application from Golden Brick Construction discussed potential safety concerns on Nelson Street, leading to unanimous approval of its first three bylaw readings.
Following a report on the Shared E-Micromobility Pilot, the council referred it back to staff for further review, agreeing on this course unanimously.
Three resolutions for submission to the Lower Mainland Local Government Association’s annual meeting were endorsed, addressing bylaw enforcement, election provisions, and mental health support for officials.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:38 p.m. with unanimous agreement.
