A regular council meeting took place on March 10, 2025, at the City Hall in Coquitlam, BC. Mayor Richard Stewart and the full council were present.
The meeting began with a territorial land acknowledgment by the Mayor, who also noted the significance of Commonwealth Day and the 25th anniversary of the .com bubble burst.
The minutes from the February 24, 2025, council meeting were unanimously approved.
Several committee minutes were received, and corresponding work plans were approved, including those from the Accessibility and Inclusion Advisory Committee, Sustainability and Environmental Advisory Committee, Multiculturalism Advisory Committee, and Sports and Recreation Advisory Committee.
Under community safety, the Next Generation 911 (NG911) Application-Based Funding was discussed. The council supported the city’s proposal to migrate 911 services to an updated emergency communications network, aligning with the Union of BC Municipalities requirements.
Deputy Chief Administrative Officer presented a report on the Amenity Cost Charges (ACC) program. Concerns were raised about potential tax impacts from new provincial housing legislation.
The council agreed to review the city’s ACC program in light of the Province’s new guidelines and seek an extension for implementing these changes.
The next meeting was scheduled for March 31, 2025, and the session adjourned at 7:24 p.m., certified by Mayor Stewart and Corporate Officer Kerri Wells.
