The project will bring new public amenities, including park spaces and community centers, to Southwest Coquitlam.
Coquitlam is advancing work on the next phase of the Fraser Mills public amenities plan, featuring new multi-use trails, a wharf, a destination playground, tennis courts, and a public art plan.
Collaborating with Beedie Living, the Fraser Mills neighborhood project will deliver over 16 acres of park space, 5,500 residential units, a community center, office space, retail space, and an urban plaza along the Fraser River.
The first stage involves developing 16.6 acres of park space, divided into three phases. Phase one will include a 4.5-acre Riverfront Park with a renewed wharf, playgrounds, and sports hubs; a Historic Como Creek Greenway multi-use trail; an entry plaza and dog park; and a Riverside Linear Park connecting to Don Roberts Park.
From February to March 2024, the City held various engagement activities to incorporate community feedback into the public amenities’ design, reflecting a strong desire for accessible, nature-connected spaces.
Council has approved advancing Phase 1’s final design, with completion expected by 2027, and plans for a waterfront plaza and amphitheater in future phases. Progress updates will be provided to the public.
