The City of Coquitlam’s regular council meeting took place on Monday, April 28, 2025, at City Hall, commencing with territorial land acknowledgments and reflections on the National Day of Mourning.

The council approved minutes from their April 14 meeting without issue. Unanimous agreement was reached on adopting the 2025 Annual Tax Rates Bylaw.

Concerning housing, the council discussed affordable housing projects. With a unanimous vote, they approved amendments to housing agreements and allocated $3.65 million from the Affordable Housing Reserve Fund for non-market housing projects.

Councillor Hodge spearheaded the introduction of two heritage bylaws, moving further steps to a public hearing, with unanimous backing from the council.

Discussion arose about the Amenity Cost Charges Program, highlighting frustration over the Province’s lack of municipal consultation. Identified was the potential detrimental effect on local tax rates and revenue streams.

The meeting concluded at 7:55 p.m., with schedules set for May 5, 2025.
