A Regular Meeting of the Coquitlam City Council was held on May 12, 2025, at 7:30 p.m. in Council Chambers. The meeting was attended by various council members, including Mayor Richard Stewart and Councillor Trish Mandewo, who attended virtually. Councillor Brent Asmundson was absent.

The meeting began with Mayor Stewart acknowledging the Indigenous territorial lands. The minutes from the May 5 Regular Council Meeting were unanimously approved following a motion by Councillor Hodge.

Minutes from the Accessibility and Inclusion Advisory and Sustainability and Environmental Advisory Committee meetings were received without objections. The council debated Heritage Bylaws for Westwood Street, with support for heritage conservation but concerns over potential traffic issues.

The council moved forward with zoning amendments for development applications and discussed small-scale multi-unit housing reforms, agreeing in principle to waive public hearings for certain amendments despite valuing public engagement.

Housing agreements for Laval Square and Sydney Avenue were approved, with Councillor Mandewo briefly stepping out due to a conflict of interest. The focus was on supportive housing prioritization for local seniors.

Development Cost Charges Bylaw was given preliminary approval. Discussions also included a temporary adjustment to Density Bonuses, aiming to address fluid market conditions and developmental project funding.

The meeting concluded with plans for the next council meeting set for June 9, 2025, and adjournment was reached at 8:40 p.m.
