City highlights LGBTQ2S+ support with events, resources, and ongoing EDI commitments.

This June, Coquitlam is gearing up to celebrate Pride Month with a variety of activities aimed at supporting the LGBTQ2S+ community.

Starting June 1, the Pride flag will be raised at City Hall, complemented by Pride banners across the city and rainbow lighting along Pinetree Way, underscoring Coquitlam’s commitment to inclusivity.

As part of the celebration, a wide range of events including barbecues, art exhibitions, and movie screenings will take place, fostering community spirit and learning.

Key events include the Poirier Youth Celebrate Pride! BBQ on June 13, the Pinetree Youth Art Exhibit on June 20, and the Maillardville Families Celebrate Pride event on June 21.

Looking ahead to July, residents are encouraged to attend the Coquitlam Pride Festival on July 19, organized by the Tri-Cities Pride Society with support from the City.

Local resources such as Tri-Cities Pride Society, DSU Pride Collective and Queer Coquitlam are available to provide support and ensure a safe environment for LGBTQ2S+ individuals.

Coquitlam remains committed to equity, diversity, and inclusion, applying these principles across city operations to provide a welcoming environment for all community members.
