Property owners urged to pay taxes by July 2 to avoid penalties

Coquitlam property owners have until July 2 to pay their property taxes and avoid a penalty.

A five percent penalty will be applied to late payments, with an additional five percent added after September 15, including for unclaimed Home Owner Grants.

Residents who have not yet received their property tax notice should contact PropertyTax@coquitlam.ca immediately.

Tax payments can be made at banks, both in person and online, using the 8-digit folio/roll number from the tax notice. Additionally, online credit card payments are available, though subject to a two percent processing fee.

Cheques can be deposited through secure drop boxes at City Hall and the Poirier Sport and Leisure Complex, post-dated up to the due date. In-person payments are accepted at City Hall during regular business hours, but the office will be closed on July 1.

Residents are advised that postal service disruptions due to Canada Post labor discussions could delay mail delivery, and delayed or lost mail is subject to penalties.
