Coquitlam property owners advised about tax notice distribution and payment options.

Property tax notices are being sent to Coquitlam property owners this week. Those enrolled in e-billing through MyCoquitlam should have already received their bill. Payment is due by July 2, 2025.

Property taxes primarily fund essential municipal operations in Coquitlam. These services include police and fire/rescue, road maintenance, parks, recreation, and cultural programs. About 40 percent of property taxes are collected by the city on behalf of other agencies.

With regional growth, the demand for services increases. Coquitlam’s 2025 budget focuses on financial stability, balancing spending while maintaining essential services. This year’s property tax increase for average homeowners is $175, about $15 a month.

Property owners can learn more about tax allocation at coquitlam.ca/PropertyTaxes. Various payment methods are available, including online banking, credit card payments, and in-person transactions at City Hall.

Those eligible for the Home Owner Grant must apply directly through the Province of British Columbia before the tax due date. For details, visit gov.bc.ca/HomeOwnerGrant.

Coquitlam offers a prepayment program for property tax planning. Information is available at coquitlam.ca/TaxPrePay. The Provincial Property Tax Deferment Program may also assist qualifying residents.
