City to enhance safety and accessibility with updated road infrastructure.

The City of Coquitlam is preparing to improve safety and accessibility for pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers along Pipeline Road between Guildford Way and Lincoln Avenue. The project, featuring a new street design, will include a protected micromobility lane.

Community members are invited to provide feedback that will contribute to the final design plans through upcoming engagement initiatives.

Pipeline Road is a key transportation corridor in Coquitlam’s City Centre. Planned enhancements aim to reduce risks and boost safety and access, including a new two-way micromobility lane separated by concrete curbs. Additional changes involve updated turn signals, new crosswalks, and reconfigured parking and loading zones.

Construction is scheduled for summer 2025, aligning with road repaving efforts on Pipeline Road stretching from Guildford Way to Inlet Street. Detailed plans, including maps and illustrations, are available online.

Residents and users of Pipeline Road are encouraged to voice their opinions through an information session and an online survey. The information session is set for November 20 at Glen Elementary Gym, with an accompanying online survey running from November 12 to December 3.

Feedback from these sources will influence the final design, reviewed alongside transportation best practices and strategic city plans, to be submitted to the City Council in early 2025. Construction is projected to commence in summer 2025.

Other ongoing initiatives include the Pipeline Road Upgrade Project, aimed at enhancing road safety and access to Town Centre Park, and Metro Vancouver’s Coquitlam Water Main Project, addressing the region’s increasing demand for drinking water.
