Residents encouraged to declutter, contribute to waste-reduction and sustainability at year’s event.

Reduce clutter and environmental impact by joining Coquitlam’s Fall City-Wide Garage Sale and Giveaway on September 21 and 22, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The event offers a chance to sell or give away household items in good condition, promoting environmental sustainability and community waste-reduction. It also presents an opportunity for bargain hunters to find deals and reduce landfill waste.

Since its inception in 2014, the event has attracted over 1,700 participants annually. Registration opens August 29 and closes September 18 at 4 p.m.

Residents can participate on one or both days, choosing to sell or give away items in categories like books, toys, clothing, electronics, and more.

Single-family, duplex, and approved multi-family homes can participate, with registration and details available at coquitlam.ca/GarageSale.

Coinciding with the garage sale, a Fall Swap and Sale will occur on September 21 at Centennial Pavilion for residents of multi-family housing.

The garage sale aligns with Coquitlam’s Environmental Sustainability Plan, focusing on waste management by minimizing waste generation and maximizing reuse.

Post-event, residents can donate or properly dispose of items using the city’s Guide to Donating Locally or by contacting Waste Connections of Canada.

The city encourages recycling through facilities like the United Boulevard Recycling and Waste Centre and the Town Centre Recycling Depot.

Coquitlam’s 2022 Environmental Sustainability Plan continues to guide community resiliency through various thematic actions, furthering sustainability goals.
